2025 PQC Interop

The OASIS Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) Technical Committee (TC) held an interoperability test for the post-quantum capabilities in the KMIP 3.0 specification.

Three vendors participated (Cryptsoft, NetApp, Project 6 Research).

The tests covered all 1452 tests in KMIP-3.0 PQC test set and between the vendors more than one million messages were exchanged during the test period of 3rd March 2025 to 7th March 2025. The results were collated and reviewed by the participants and their accuracy verified by cross-checking implementation request and responses against known correct answers. The summary of the results has been agreed as accurate by the participants. As per standard practice, the KMIP TC itself does not independently verify the results of the testing.

The tests use the test vectors from the NIST ACVP Test Suite implemented using KMIP-3.0 additions to support PQC algorithms and to support testing in the same manner as is performed for cryptographic algorithm testing as part of a FIPS 140-3 cryptographic module validation.

In addition, support for the post-quantum hybrid KEM within TLSv1.3 was also tested and confirmed for those implementations that already offer such support.

The KMIP 3.0 PQC Test Cases are based on the NIST ACVP Test Cases.
